The search for South Africa’s most committed, lionhearted and hardcore charger begins this June 2018 and will end on 31 December 2018.

Like 2017’s competition, size ain’t everything as we cast our focus on the ride itself and how hard you charge. Fearless. Full tilt. We’re looking for that life changing wave. Anything over 6 foot and dredging is contestable – Southern Africa is the battleground, where and how big, that’s all on you. Bring on those waves of consequence!

The competition kicks off, June 1st and runs until the 31st of December. That’s an extra two months on last year. In the end, only one will take home the glory and street cred along with a trip to Hawaii, cash and prizes totaling more than R120 000, while the videographer or photog bags a cool R20 000. Yeeew, talk about motivation.

The criteria see a winner selected every month coping a ticket to the final in the process to slug it out for the grand prize. On top of this, the monthly winner or King of the Round will be rewarded with Striped Horse beer, gear from Hurricane Surf and some refreshing ice tea from Bos.
Once again we will be rewarding the biggest wipeout of the month with a couple beers from Striped Horse to sooth the pain and bruised ego. These Beating of the Round monthly winners will become finalists for the overall Season’s Beatings prize of R10 000, whilst the videographer or photog walks away with R5 000.
This year’s Striped Horse Challenge also sees the return of 2017’s judging panel in the likes of Paul Canning, Jonathan Paarman, Ettiene Buys, Greg Emslie and Alan Van Gysen. To read their bios click here.
