The search for South Africa’s most courageous, committed and hardcore charger begins this August, 2017 and will end on 31 December 2017.

The Striped Horse Challenge presented by Zigzag in association with Hurricane Surf is mixing it up in 2017 looking to cap the ride of the winter in waves of consequence!
It’s no longer just about the size of the wave but the way it is surfed. Anything over 6 foot and dredging is contestable – from anywhere in Southern Africa during the waiting period.

The competition kicks-off on 1 August and runs until 31 December, after which the winner will be awarded not only a trip to Hawaii, but also cash and prizes totalling more than R90 000 (plus R10 000 to the videographer pr photographer who records it).

The new criteria sees a monthly winner each month who will become a finalist for the grand prize, along with rewarding him with a couple of beers and gear from Striped Horse and Hurricane Surf.
In addition we will also award the biggest wipeout of the month with some beer to sooth their bruises. These monthly winners will also become finalists for the overall Season’s Beatings prize of R5 000.
This year’s Striped Horse Challenge also sees some fresh blood in the judging panel in the likes of Paul Canning, Jonathan Paarman, Ettiene Buys, Greg Emslie and Alan Van Gysen. To read their bios click here.
